Garrity Tools Matcha Tool is a wooden pottery rib designed specifically for throwing the ceramic pieces used to prepare matcha. Its two different profiles allow you to make your own matcha set - a matcha bowl (matchawan) and a stand for a bamboo matcha whisk (chasen).

One side of the rib is designed for shaping a matchawan, or matcha bowl. The profile helps create gently rounded walls and a raised foot. While throwing, simply guide the rib along the wall of the rotating vessel to achieve the characteristic bowl shape consistently. This is particularly useful when you want to make several matching bowls or a complete handmade matcha set.

Flip the tool over and the second profile can be used to shape a kusenaoshi - a stand for a chasen. Its curved form supports the bamboo matcha whisk and helps the delicate bamboo tines retain their natural, open shape after use.
