Mayco Jungle Gems
Mayco Jungle Gems ceramic glazes create stunning transformations in the kiln as small glass crystals melt and bloom into vibrant colors and intricate patterns. Designed to mature at ca. 1050°C, these glazes can also be fired at higher temperatures, though the crystals may flow more on vertical surfaces. We recommend testing them on your specific clay body and kiln before use.
A natural crazing effect occurs as the crystals bloom, which can make the surface difficult to clean if in contact with food. For this reason, Mayco Jungle Gems glazes are best suited for decorative pieces rather than functional dinnerware. They can be used on their own for striking results, blended with Mayco Stroke & Coat glazes, or applied as an accent to enhance your design.
