Cacao Matte shows a warmer rust-brown base when applied lightly, while a heavier layer develops stronger brown and tan tones. Relief and uneven surfaces emphasize transitions caused by differences in glaze thickness. At the recommended firing temperature, the finish is matte.
Amaco Shino glazes are inspired by the humble earthiness of tea ceremony bowls. In oxidation firings, they produce a rich, high-iron surface reminiscent of reduction-fired glazes. They enhance both textured and smooth clay surfaces and are suitable for white and red clay bodies.
The Gloss and Matte versions can be blended to create intermediate levels of sheen. The glazes can also be layered with Amaco Potter's Choice glazes to produce more dynamic, complex surfaces.
