In the low-fire range, the glaze is light turquoise with dark blue speckles. At higher fire, the color stays the same while speckles spread into blue spots.

At low-fire temperatures, SP-245 My Blue Heaven creates a light turquoise base with a speckled effect in dark blue. One coat gives a semi-transparent effect and may show visible brush marks, while additional coats increase coverage and create a more even surface. At higher fire, the light turquoise base stays the same while the speckles spread into blue spots.

Mayco Speckled Stroke & Coat Glazes

Mayco Speckled Stroke & Coat glazes are thick, highly pigmented speckled glazes from the Stroke & Coat family. They combine an intense color base with fine particles of ceramic frit, which create contrasting speckles and irregular spots after firing. A thin coat can show visible brush marks, while 2-3 coats increase opacity and create a more even, opaque surface. After firing, the glazes are glossy and do not need an additional clear glaze. At low-fire temperatures, colors usually stay clean and vivid, while at higher firing temperatures the speckles may soften, bleed or form larger spots. Before repeat production, test on your chosen clay body and in your own kiln.
