At low-fire temperatures, SP-211 Blue Yonder creates a light blue base with a speckled effect in white. One coat gives a semi-transparent effect and may show visible brush marks, while additional coats increase coverage and create a more even surface. At a higher firing temperature, the light blue base becomes more translucent and the white speckles soften.
Mayco Speckled Stroke & Coat glazes are thick, highly pigmented speckled glazes from the Stroke & Coat family. They combine an intense color base with fine particles of ceramic frit, which create contrasting speckles and irregular spots after firing. A thin coat can show visible brush marks, while 2-3 coats increase opacity and create a more even, opaque surface. After firing, the glazes are glossy and do not need an additional clear glaze. At low-fire temperatures, colors usually stay clean and vivid, while at higher firing temperatures the speckles may soften, bleed or form larger spots. Before repeat production, test on your chosen clay body and in your own kiln.
