Laguna Clay WC401 B-Mix 5 combines a porcelain-like smoothness with excellent plasticity for wheel throwing. It fires to a warm, creamy off-white colour.

Laguna Clay WC401 B-Mix 5 is an exceptionally smooth, plastic stoneware clay body with a porcelain-like feel and the working qualities potters value for wheel throwing. It responds well to shaping and makes it easy to create refined forms with neatly finished surfaces. It is especially suited to cups, small bowls and other small to medium-sized pieces.

B-Mix 5 also performs well in handbuilding, including slab and coil techniques. Its fine, consistent texture makes smoothing surfaces and refining details easier. Unlike porcelain, it is a stoneware clay body, combining a porcelain-like finish with good workability. Slow, even drying is recommended, especially for forms with handles or wide bases.

In oxidation firing, the body develops a warm cream colour that provides a gentle backdrop for glazes and underglaze decoration. Under reduction conditions, it may fire closer to off-white, depending on the kiln atmosphere. Its pale fired colour complements both delicate decoration and more saturated glaze colours.

Bisque firing can be carried out at approximately 1000°C, followed by a final firing around 1180–1200°C. Total shrinkage at the recommended final firing is 13%, and water absorption is 2%.
