Mudtools Shape 5 is a versatile ceramic tool designed for wheel throwing, handbuilding and sculpting. It has the same classic kidney shape as the Mudtools Shape 0 and Mudtools Shape 1 ribs, but is larger, measuring 10.5 × 5.1 cm.

Its larger size makes it easier to work efficiently across larger surfaces and forms. Shape 5 is particularly useful for smoothing slabs of clay, as well as levelling, compressing and shaping larger surfaces and the walls of vessels being formed.

The rib is made from a flexible polymer that resists wear and the formation of burrs. With regular use, the material gradually becomes burnished in areas that come into contact with the clay, helping the tool maintain a smooth, pleasant working surface.
