BTH Sirius pottery wheel - proven quality, very quiet operation and excellent value. A pottery wheel for beginners that also works well in a busy studio.
The BTH Sirius BP02 pottery wheel is robust and exceptionally quiet, designed for regular use in pottery studios, schools and home studios. Its 500 W motor with belt drive runs smoothly from 0-300 rpm, while reversible rotation lets you set the wheel to suit your preferred throwing technique. The foot pedal uses a Hall-effect sensor for smooth, precise speed control throughout the throwing process. The pedal connects to the wheel via a separate plug and dedicated socket, so it can be easily disconnected or replaced if needed.
The Sirius can center up to 40 kg of clay, making it suitable for most small and medium-sized pieces as well as larger forms. The 31.5 cm aluminum wheelhead has two bat-pin holes for mounting bats. A particularly practical feature is the two-part magnetic splash pan, which is easy to remove and clean after throwing. The wheelhead height can be set to 45, 50 or 55 cm. When the speed is set to 0, the wheelhead can spin freely.
Both Sirius and Andromeda offer smooth speed control via a Hall-effect foot pedal, rotation in both directions, adjustable working height and a two-part magnetic splash pan. The main difference is the drive system. Sirius uses a proven belt drive, while Andromeda features a Direct Drive system, allowing it to run even more quietly and exceptionally smoothly, including at low speeds.
Sirius has a centering capacity of up to 40 kg of clay and a 31.5 cm wheelhead. Andromeda offers a larger 35.2 cm wheelhead, a centering capacity of up to 60 kg and an even lower noise level, making it better suited to large forms and studios where exceptionally quiet, smooth operation is particularly important. Motor wattage alone should not be the deciding factor - Andromeda has a 400 W motor while Sirius has a 500 W motor, but Andromeda's Direct Drive system transfers torque directly to the wheelhead.
