Amaco Shino Hibiscus Gloss combines salmon pink, orange and brown in a glossy, variegated finish that changes with the thickness of the applied glaze layer.

A light application of Hibiscus Gloss mainly reveals the warm rust-brown base. A thicker layer strengthens the salmon-pink, orange and brown tones. Textured areas make the color transitions more apparent, and the fired surface is glossy.

Amaco Shino

Amaco Shino glazes are inspired by the humble earthiness of tea ceremony bowls. In oxidation firings, they produce a rich, high-iron surface reminiscent of reduction-fired glazes. They enhance both textured and smooth clay surfaces and are suitable for white and red clay bodies.

The Gloss and Matte versions can be blended to create intermediate levels of sheen. The glazes can also be layered with Amaco Potter's Choice glazes to produce more dynamic, complex surfaces.
