A thinner application of Chai Matte reveals more of the warm rust-brown base. Heavier areas develop fuller cream, orange and brown tones, with the variation especially visible over texture. At the recommended firing temperature, the surface is matte.
Amaco Shino glazes are inspired by the humble earthiness of tea ceremony bowls. In oxidation firings, they produce a rich, high-iron surface reminiscent of reduction-fired glazes. They enhance both textured and smooth clay surfaces and are suitable for white and red clay bodies.
The Gloss and Matte versions can be blended to create intermediate levels of sheen. The glazes can also be layered with Amaco Potter's Choice glazes to produce more dynamic, complex surfaces.
