Botz Pro Glazes

Botz Pro is a range of ready-to-use brush-on ceramic glazes with a broad firing range of 1020–1280°C, suitable for both earthenware and stoneware. Their appearance changes with firing temperature. At around 1050°C, colours are generally stronger and almost opaque. At around 1150°C, they retain their colour while becoming more semi-transparent. At around 1250°C, they develop a glossier, glass-like surface with softer, pastel tones. For most colours, Botz recommends 2–3 coats at 1050°C and two coats at around 1150–1250°C. Thick application can cause the glaze to run, especially from 1150°C upwards. The manufacturer recommends the range for tableware, provided the glaze is fired correctly and is compatible with the clay body. Test the result on a sample before glazing finished work.

Botz Pro 9316 Morganite Ceramic Glaze
  • Morganite gives ceramics a soft, powder-pink finish with delicate brown speckles. Around 1150°C the surface is lightly speckled, while at about 1250°C the flecks may form longer streaks.
  • The Botz Pro range has a broad firing range of 1020–1280°C and can be used on both earthenware and stoneware.
  • Apply the ready-to-use glaze with a brush to bisque-fired ware. Botz generally recommends 2–3 coats at about 1050°C or two coats at about 1150–1250°C.
  • The fired result depends on temperature, coat thickness and clay body, so always make a test tile before glazing a finished piece.
  • Thick layers may run, especially above about 1150°C. Leave the foot unglazed and protect the kiln shelf as appropriate.
  • Botz recommends the Pro range for functional tableware when fired correctly and used with a suitable, properly matured clay body.
