Botz Plus 9020 Glaze Effect Enhancer

Botz Plus 9020 enhances glaze effects and shine. Used alone, it develops blue crystalline effects at 1250°C or a soft satin crackle finish around 1050°C.

Botz Plus 9020

Botz Plus 9020 is an effect-enhancing glaze additive, especially useful over unfired stoneware glazes. Applied unevenly, it can alter colour, surface texture and gloss. Used by itself on stoneware clay, it produces different surfaces depending on the firing temperature. It is not a colour in the Botz Pro range.

• Applied on its own to stoneware clay and fired at around 1250°C, it produces a glossy surface with bluish crystalline effects.
• Used on its own at about 1050°C, it develops a satin crackle finish. The cracks can be highlighted with suitable ceramic ink after firing.
• Apply unevenly over an unfired stoneware glaze. Botz gives an example firing of 1250°C with a 30-minute soak.
• Botz Plus can run heavily, especially over other glazes. Keep the foot clear and test the combination before firing finished pieces.
• Botz lists a firing range of 1020–1280°C. Used on its own, Botz Plus is not recommended for tableware.
