Laguna Clay WC390 Red Sculpture is a grogged, sandy clay for sculpting and handbuilding larger forms. It fires to a distinctive warm brick-red colour.

Laguna Clay WC390 Red Sculpture is a red clay body designed for sculpture and larger handbuilt forms. Its medium-coarse, noticeably gritty texture comes from a high proportion of sand with particles around 0.25 mm and the addition of medium grog. This combination provides support when building substantial three-dimensional pieces.

Red Sculpture works especially well for slab building, coil building and sculpting larger forms. It can also be used to throw medium and large vessels on the pottery wheel. Its textured feel gives an earthy finish that suits sculpture, naturally finished ceramics and handmade tiles.

Its fired colour is another defining feature. In oxidation firing, common in electric kilns, it develops a warm brick-red colour, while reduction firing produces a dark brown tone. This gives the clay a strong visual presence, allowing the natural fired surface to become part of the design.

Bisque firing can be carried out at approximately 1000°C, followed by a final firing around 1180–1200°C, depending on the kiln schedule. At the recommended final firing, the manufacturer reports 9% total shrinkage and 7.7% water absorption.
