Mayco SW-404 Black Mudcrack glaze, when fired at 1240°C, creates a black, cracked snakeskin-like texture on the surface, which flattens out as the reduction firing temperature increases. The glazes from the Mayco Stoneware series are designed for firing in the temperature range of 1200-1300°C, in both oxidation and reduction atmospheres. Stir them well before use and apply on bisque in layers with a brush. The final appearance of the glaze will depend on the clay body used, the number of layers and the firing curve.
